Founder of CAP Maurice

04 — A word from the founder

I built CAP Maurice because I lived through what our clients go through. After ten years in international tax structuring and more than a thousand consultations, I saw just how opaque the market can be: providers who vanish after registration, hidden fees, contradictory advice. CAP Maurice is the firm I wish I'd found.

Ten years in international tax structuring, 1,000+ consultations, and six companies founded across sectors as diverse as real estate, healthcare, digital, business acquisition and tax optimization. I help French-speaking entrepreneurs set up in Mauritius with one simple standard: transparent, compliant, no surprises. CAP Maurice draws on certified Mauritian partners for all regulated work.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are several options. The Global Business Company (GBC) is for internationally-focused activities. The domestic company is for local operations. And you can also open a branch office of a foreign company. The right choice depends on your business, your clients and your goals. We help you figure that out during the initial analysis.

It depends on the structure. A domestic company can usually be registered in 2 to 4 weeks. A GBC takes longer, typically 4 to 8 weeks, because of compliance checks and licence approval by the Financial Services Commission. Bank account opening can add another 2 to 4 weeks on top of that.

No. You don't need to be a resident to incorporate or own a company in Mauritius. That said, some structures require a resident director or a locally registered agent. We can arrange both. And if you do want to move to Mauritius, we handle the residence permit process too.

Corporate tax in Mauritius is 15%. But a foreign tax credit system can bring the effective rate down to around 3% for eligible international activities. Companies need to file annual returns with the MRA and keep IFRS-compliant accounts. We handle the tax filings and bookkeeping for you.

Absolutely. Mauritius is a well-respected jurisdiction with over 45 double taxation treaties. It's fully compliant with OECD, FATF and EU standards, and it's not on any EU blacklist. Our job is to make sure your setup meets every local and international requirement, including economic substance rules.

The term 'offshore' is often misunderstood. Mauritius is not a tax haven — it's a regulated jurisdiction that meets international standards. Since the 2018 reform, the traditional concept of an 'offshore' company no longer exists in Mauritius. The GBC (Global Business Company) is the structure for international activities, but it requires real economic substance: offices, employees, local decision-making. It's a legal, transparent framework — not a brass plate.

Corporate tax in Mauritius is 15%. For GBCs earning revenue internationally, a Deemed Foreign Tax Credit system can bring the effective rate down to around 3%. There is no capital gains tax, no withholding tax on dividends, interest or royalties, and profits can be repatriated freely. Every company must file annual tax returns with the MRA and keep IFRS-compliant accounts.
